Northwest trip mixing colorful landscapes dotted by small villages, with a blue sky, vineyards and wineries.
1º day: EUROPE-BUENOS AIRES. Night Flight with final destination Buenos Aires, Argentina
2º day: BUENOS AIRES. Arrival at Ezeiza International Airport, reception and transfer to Buenos Aires city. Overnight at selected hotel (brakfast and local vat included). In the afternoon city tour visiting “Plaza de Mayo” – May Square – Government House and the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Congress, the neighborhood of San Telmo, La Boca, Palermo lakes and La Recoleta..smart and busy. Accommodation with breakfast and local vat.
3º day: BUENOS AIRES-SALTA In time to confirm, transfer to local airport and flight to Salta. Upon arrival, tour through the city´s most interesting spots and its outskirts. 9 de Julio Square, Cathedral, city council, Basilica of San Francisco, San Bernardo Convent and Hill and Guemes´monument and the artisant fair. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation with breakfast included.
4º day: SALTA-CACHI After breakfast we take Route 68 where you will travel through Cerrillos, La Merced and El Carril. During this circuit, you will discover the amazing landscape of Gorge of Escoipe and Los Laureles. Then, you will begin through the well-known Cuesta del Obispo (Bishop Slope), which is a winding road surrounded by breathtaking rock formations and naturals walls. On this part of the tour, you’ll go up till the top of the road, which is 3348 meters above sea level and where you can see in flight El Condor, the “king of the sky” in the region. It’s also from here where it’s possible to see El Valle Encantado (the Enchanted Valley), which has a beautiful landscape reminiscent of a fairy tale. From here, the landscape will begin to change significantly as you leave the sub-tropical valleys. The next stop is La Recta del Tin Tin, which was built during time of the Incas. On both sides of the road, you’ll find EL Parque Nacional los Cardones (The National Park of Cactus). Afterwards, reach your final destination of Cachi.
After lunch, you will stroll through the streets of this beautiful town, admiring the ancient, colonial and perfectly preserved architecture. Accommodation with dinner at Inn Restaurant.
5º day: CACHI-CAFAYATE After breakfast, transfer to Cafayate, visiting Bodega Colomé. Founded in 1831. In 1854, his daughter Ascensión, brought the first French pre-phylloxera Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon vines to Colomé. Grapes from three vineyards, planted in that year, are still used in the production of Colomé Reserva wines. Colomé Estate belonged to Isasmendi-Dávalos families along 170 years. Donald Hess acquired it in 2001.. Today, Colomé Winery is a model winery producing quality premium wines in Argentina.
Every year, it produces over half a million litres of wine and exports its wines to over 40 countries around the world. Lunch and trip to the Boutique Hotel & Winery “Casa de la Bodega (4*)”. In this wonderful place will make a taste of wines. Dinner and accommodation.
6º day : CAFAYATE-SALTA Morning tour to “bio” Nanni Winery. The half-hourly tour and tastings of four young wines are short and bright here at this small, central winery with a lovely grass patio. Wines are organic, uncomplicated and drinkable. There’s a good on-site restaurant.
Return to Salta in the afternoon, visiting the “Quebrada de las Conchas”. Walk around to admire natural monuments: Castles, el Anfitheater, la Devil´s gorge, between other beauties. Then will visit the dique Cabra Corral, with its great lake. Lunch on the way. Arrival to Salta, accommodation at selected hotel.
7º day: Salta-Purmamarca. We travel in the same direction as the famous Train to the Clouds, zigzagging on lonely roads between the blue sky and the Puna. On our way, we visit magnificent ruins, scattered houses, small villages and amazing landscapes.
We leave Salta at 7:00 am and quickly reach the small town of Campo Quijano and later the impressive Quebrada del Toro. Soon we leave all signs of vegetation as we enter the realms of the solitary Puna. In Santa Rosa de Tastil, a pre-Inca city of the XIII century, we do a short archeological hiking. Later, we reach San Antonio de los Cobres, a small miners’ town rich in tradition and the Train to the Clouds’ destination.
Farther ahead, a desert plateau will take us to the surreal landscape of the salt flats, where we stop again to walk around and enjoy the contrasts.
In the afternoon, we return through the overwhelming Lipan mountains and arrive at the Seven-color Hill in Purmamarca, a landmark on its own.
8º day: Purmamarca-Salta. Visit of Uquia and its typical church, Humahuaca and the Independence Monument and the church. The we visit the small village of Iruya, where we have lunch, coming back to Salta around 7pm. Accommodation.
9º day: Salta-Buenos Aires-Europe. Transfer to local airport to board flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and connection to international airport to board flight to europe.
10º day: Europe.
Arrival to final destination.
